PDF Editor

Edit existing text, sign, annotate, fill forms and organise pages — private, runs in your browser

Drop your PDF here to edit
or click to browse — stays on your device, never uploaded
100% Private — No Upload

Your PDF is opened and saved by your browser using the open-source pdf.js and pdf-lib libraries. It is never sent to a server.

Good to know: Edit text works line by line — it covers the original line and places your new text on top in the closest matching font, so the look can differ slightly from the original typeface. The original text stays hidden underneath in the file, so don't use this to remove sensitive information. Scanned PDFs (page images) have no text to edit; use Whiteout and Add text there.

What is PDF Editor?

Edit a PDF online free: click existing text to change it, add text, sign, highlight, underline, draw, insert images, fill forms, and rotate, reorder or delete pages. Runs in your browser — your PDF is never uploaded. Productivity tools to help you work smarter and faster. TekPulse's PDF Editor is completely free — no signup, no ads in results, and no data stored on our servers.

How to Use PDF Editor Online

  1. Upload your PDF with the drop zone — it opens in your browser and is never uploaded
  2. Use Edit text and click any line to change it, or Sign, Add text, Highlight, Underline, Draw, Arrow, shapes and Image from the toolbar
  3. Click or drag on a page to add it; use Select to move, resize, recolour or double-click text to edit it
  4. Use the buttons above each page to rotate, reorder, delete or insert a blank page; fill any form fields in the panel
  5. Click "Download PDF" — the edited file is built in your browser and saved to your device

PDF Editor Formula & Calculation

Edited PDF = Original pages (reordered / rotated / deleted) + your annotations drawn on top of each page

The editor opens your PDF with pdf.js, which draws each page on screen, and lays an editing layer over it. Everything you add — text, drawings, highlights, boxes, images — is kept as a list of objects with positions measured in PDF points (1/72 inch) from the top-left of the page as you see it.

When you click Download, pdf-lib loads the original file again and draws those objects onto the real pages, converting each position into the PDF's own coordinate system (which starts at the bottom-left and changes when a page is rotated). Because your annotations are added on top of the existing content instead of rewriting it, the original text, fonts and images stay exactly as they were. All of this happens in your browser; the file is never sent anywhere.

Key Factors That Affect Your Result

  1. Edit text works line by line — PDFs store positioned glyphs, not paragraphs, so the editor covers the original line and places your text on top using the line's own size and colour and the closest matching font; custom or unusual fonts are approximated.
  2. Whiteout is not redaction — it hides content visually but the original text is still inside the file and can be copied or extracted; never use it to hide sensitive data.
  3. Deleted pages are removed — when you delete pages, the file is rebuilt so those pages' content is not carried along; form fields are flattened in that case.
  4. Fonts — text uses standard PDF fonts (Sans, Serif, Mono); characters outside Latin script, such as ₹, are saved with an embedded Noto Sans font, but scripts like Tamil or Hindi are not supported yet.
  5. Scanned PDFs — a scan is a picture of a page, so you can annotate it but there is no text to select or change.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The PDF is opened and saved entirely in your browser using the open-source pdf.js and pdf-lib libraries. Nothing is sent to TekPulse or anyone else, so confidential documents stay on your device.

Yes, line by line. Choose Edit text, click a line of text, and change it. The editor reads the original line's size, colour and font name, covers it, and places your new text on top, using a matching open-source font where one is available (for example Arial, Times, Calibri, Roboto or Open Sans). Fonts it does not have, such as Georgia or custom brand fonts, are replaced by the closest match, so the look can differ slightly.

No. Both only place a box over the original content. The original text is still inside the file and can be selected or extracted, so do not use it to hide passwords, ID numbers or other sensitive information.

Click Sign, then draw your signature, type your name in a script font, or upload a photo of it. Click Use signature, then click on the page to place it and drag the corner to resize. Signatures are saved in your browser so you can reuse them; they never leave your device.

Yes. If the PDF has fillable fields, a "Fill form fields" panel appears above the pages. Enter your values and download — they are written into the PDF. Values do not show in the page preview, only in the downloaded file.

Text is saved with standard PDF fonts, plus an embedded Noto Sans font for symbols such as ₹. Scripts like Tamil, Hindi or Chinese are not supported yet. As a workaround, type that text elsewhere and add it as an image.

Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened, so remove the password in your PDF reader first. Scanned PDFs open fine and can be annotated, but there is no real text in them to select or change.
