What is Random Number Generator?

Free random number generator. Generate single or multiple random numbers in any range, pick from a list, flip a coin, and roll dice. Fast, accurate mathematical calculators that show step-by-step working. TekPulse's Random Number Generator is completely free — no signup, no ads in results, and no data stored on our servers.

How to Use Random Number Generator Online

  1. Enter the minimum value (e.g. 1) and maximum value (e.g. 100) for the range
  2. Set how many random numbers to generate (1 to 1000)
  3. Click Generate — the numbers appear instantly
  4. Toggle "No Duplicates" to ensure each generated number is unique
  5. Copy all generated numbers to clipboard or download as a CSV file

Random Number Generator Formula & Calculation

Random integer in [min, max] via crypto.getRandomValues() (CSPRNG), range-mapped with modulo

For number generation, dice rolls, and picking a random item from a list, the tool uses the browser's crypto.getRandomValues() — a cryptographically secure pseudo-random number generator (CSPRNG) — rather than Math.random(), which is a faster but statistically weaker and potentially predictable generator not intended for anything security- or fairness-sensitive. A random 32-bit integer is drawn and reduced modulo the requested range, then offset by the minimum value. The coin-flip feature uses Math.random() since a simple 50/50 flip doesn't need cryptographic-strength randomness.

Example: Random number between 1 and 100 → a secure 32-bit value is drawn, reduced mod 100, and shifted by +1 → an unbiased integer such as 1 to 100 appears with uniform probability.

Key Factors That Affect Your Result

  1. CSPRNG vs Math.random — crypto.getRandomValues() is suitable for contexts where unpredictability genuinely matters (e.g., giveaways, draws); Math.random() (used only for the coin flip here) is fine for casual use but is not cryptographically secure.
  2. Modulo bias — Reducing a random 32-bit integer by modulo introduces a very slight statistical bias toward smaller numbers when the range doesn't evenly divide 2³², though this bias is negligible for the small ranges (1–100, dice, list picks) typical of this tool's use cases.
  3. List picker — When picking a random item from a pasted list, every line (after trimming blanks) has an equal chance of being selected, using the same secure random-index method.

Frequently Asked Questions

Computer random number generators use algorithms called PRNGs (Pseudo-Random Number Generators). They are not truly random but produce sequences that appear random. True randomness requires physical noise sources (atmospheric noise, quantum effects).

PRNGs use mathematical algorithms seeded with a value — given the same seed, the sequence repeats. True RNGs use physical phenomena. For most applications (games, statistics), PRNGs are sufficient. For cryptography, use a cryptographically secure RNG.

Enter 1 as the minimum and 100 as the maximum in our generator and click Generate. Each click produces a new random integer in that range. The probability of any specific number is 1/100 = 1%.

Yes — it generates numbers as random as any other method. However, no strategy (including random selection) improves your odds of winning a lottery, as all draws are independent random events.
