What is Working Days Counter?

Free working days calculator. Count business days between two dates, excluding weekends you choose (Saturday and/or Sunday). Date and time tools that support Indian Standard Time (IST) and the Indian calendar. TekPulse's Working Days Counter is completely free — no signup, no ads in results, and no data stored on our servers.

How to Use Working Days Counter Online

  1. Enter the start date and end date of the period you want to calculate
  2. Choose whether Saturday and/or Sunday should count as weekend days — both are excluded by default
  3. View the total days, working days, and weekend days within the period, instantly recalculated as you change the dates
  4. See the equivalent in working weeks, hours (8h/day), and minutes for project or payroll estimates
  5. Note: this counts weekends only — it does not currently exclude public or company-specific holidays, so subtract those manually if needed

Key Factors That Affect Your Result

  1. What this tool excludes — It only removes the weekend days you tick (Saturday and/or Sunday) from the date range. It does not know about, and does not exclude, public holidays, festival dates, or company-specific non-working days — those must be subtracted manually if relevant to your calculation.
  2. Custom weekends — Not every business follows a Saturday–Sunday weekend (e.g. some Middle Eastern countries use Friday–Saturday); the Saturday/Sunday checkboxes let you toggle either one independently to roughly approximate this, but there's no arbitrary custom-day selection.
  3. Working hours estimate — The "Working Hours" and "Working Minutes" figures are a flat 8-hours-per-working-day multiplication, not based on any actual shift schedule or leave records — treat them as a rough planning estimate, not a timesheet.
  4. Inclusive counting — Both the start and end date are counted as part of the range (if the end date falls on an included weekday, it's counted as a working day), so results reflect a full inclusive span rather than an exclusive one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Working days are business days from Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays. They are used in legal, financial, and official contexts for deadlines, notice periods, and delivery timeframes.

India has 3 national holidays: Republic Day (Jan 26), Independence Day (Aug 15), and Gandhi Jayanti (Oct 2). State governments declare additional restricted and gazetted holidays.

Approximately 260–262 working days per year (52 weeks × 5 days), minus public holidays (typically 10–15 days nationally + state holidays). Most companies have 240–250 effective working days.

Most IT and corporate jobs in India require a 30- or 60-day notice period. If it says "30 calendar days," weekends count. If it says "30 working days," only Monday–Friday count — that's about 6 weeks.

Start from the project start date, count forward by the required working days, skipping weekends (and public holidays, if your organisation observes them). Our working days calculator automatically excludes the weekend days you select — it does not currently track public holidays, so subtract those manually if they fall in your date range.
