Frequently Asked Questions

Names are shuffled using a fair random algorithm (Fisher–Yates shuffle), then distributed one at a time across the teams — so every name has an equal chance of ending up on any team.

Both — choose "Number of Teams" to set how many teams you want (e.g. split 20 people into 4 teams), or "Team Size" to set how many people per team (e.g. groups of 5, however many teams that produces).

Leftover names are distributed one per team in order, so team sizes differ by at most one person — no team is left significantly larger or smaller than the others.

Yes — enter custom team names (one per line) in the optional field, and they'll be used as the team headings instead of the default numbering.

Yes — click the reshuffle button (circular arrow) next to "Generate Teams" to instantly re-randomize the same list into new teams.
